| If you feel compelled to read more about the crazy girl who decided to start up this website, you've come to the right place. My story is not as complex and perhaps not as interesting as some other fans who can claim the great opportunity of having met Robert Addie in person or having the wonderful privilege of knowing him as a friend or colleague. My story is more a story borne out of fandom ... and frustration. I remember watching Robin of Sherwood way back on Showtime in the early '80s, but being a child, I didn't so much notice Gisburne as boo him when he came on the screen and cheer for Robin. I also saw him as Mordred in Excalibur, but didn't make the connection this was the same man who played Guy on ROS. After the series ended, I paid little attention what happened to Robert. In fact, it wasn't until October '07 when I gained interest in ROS and Robert. While watching ROS again in October last year, my initial impression was confirmed since I was a child - Sir Guy of Gisburne was an ass. But then I noticed something strange happen that probably couldn't occur when I was a child ... I found myself gradually sympathizing with his character and eventually falling in love with him. I was deeply saddened when I found out Robert Addie, the brilliant actor who played Guy, died tragically young at the age of 43. I scoured the Internet then, searching for any crumbs of information on him, hoping to find an official website on him, special tidbits of information about his career and himself. In spite of the many lovely fan efforts I found, there was something I wished to see I wasn't seeing in these other websites. I grew frustrated, even angry there weren't more websites devoted to Robert, so I decided to begin this website. At first it wasn't much, a biography copied from IMDB, a few collection of screencaps from ROS. But over time, it grew and became a website I hoped Robert would be proud of if he saw it. It amazes me when I realize one year has passed since I first started this website, but I believe it has been a worthwhile effort, something that will continue to keep Robert's memory alive and hopefully bring information and enjoyment to Robert's fans for years to come. Thank you to all who have helped keep this website going and making it the quality site it now is. |
